Adipurush’s director, Om Raut, announced that the movie will now hit theatres on June 16, 2023. He wrote on tweeter, “Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram and commitment towards our Sanskriti and history. In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film. Adipurush will now release on June 16, 2023. We are committed to make a film that India will be proud of. Your support, love and blessings is what keeps us going (sic).”
The excessive use of CGI and the subpar portrayals of Lord Ram, Lankeshwar Raavan, Lord Hanuman, and the Vanar Sena in the movie’s teaser drew a lot of criticism. The film, which is based on the Ramayana mythology, stars Prabhas as Raghava, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, and Kriti Sanon as Janaki.
The main character of the movie is Raghava (Prabhas), who goes to Lanka with his sena, which also includes Laxman and Hanuman, in order to save his wife Janaki (Kriti Sanon) from Lankesh (Saif Ali Khan), the man who abducted her.
