Turmeric or Haldi is a wonderful spice that has been used for centuries for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. While the bright yellow spice is most commonly associated with Indian, Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern curry dishes, it is also an excellent skincare product.
Turmeric can heal and beautify your skin as a face mask, and it’s simple to make at home. Turmeric adds a brilliant glow to the skin when combined with yogurt, coconut, or olive oil. It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can aid in the treatment of acne and wrinkles.

Benefits of Turmeric
Turmeric has long been used as a skin brightener by Indian women. To brighten their complexions for the wedding, Indian brides (and grooms) smear a turmeric paste made of the powder and sunflower oil on their skin.
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Because inflammation and irritation can exacerbate other skin conditions, using turmeric as a regular face mask can be beneficial.
Turmeric Face Mask Recipe
The key to making a turmeric face mask is to make a paste out of turmeric powder or extract and a thickening agent. Some of the ingredients may differ depending on the skin concern:
- Combine turmeric, warm water, and honey for acne and antibacterial concerns.
- Combine turmeric with yogurt and lemon juice for extra nourishment and brightening effects on hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.
- For natural pain relief, combine turmeric extract with aloe vera.
- Simply combine turmeric and water for antioxidant power (you may add a small amount of almond or rice flour to make this mask thicker and easier to apply).
- For oily skin: 1/4 cup plain yogurt, With 3−4 drops lemon juice
- For dry skin: 2 teaspoons coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or olive oil (or more if you like)
Regardless of the recipe, leave the mask on for about 10 minutes at a time. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, then apply toner, serum, and moisturiser as desired.
Avoid leaving on overnight because turmeric has a tendency to stain (especially if you have lighter skin). If the yellow spice has left a stain on your face, try washing it with milk. The mask can be used up to two to three times per week.
