Govinda Naam Mera, directed by Shashank Khaitan and starring Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani, is currently available on the OTT service Disney+Hotstar. it’s a comedy thriller movie.
Govinda (Vicky Kaushal) is married to Gauri (Bhumi Pednekar) who controls him and abuses him whenever possible, but he is having an extramarital relationship with Suku (Kiara Advani). But the problem starts in his life when his wife Gauri (Bhumi Pednekar) found out dead and he becomes prime suspect.
The story centers on the lives of “Govinda,” a common man who works as a junior background dancer and is heavily indebted. Bhumi Pednekar, on the other hand, plays Vicky Kaushal’s wife in the movie. Kiara Advani portrays the actor’s adulterous relationship at the same time.
The plot is breezy, contains just the proper amount of humour, and takes surprising turns. New characters in the movie, including six-pack Sandy and his father, bring their own drama with them when they are introduced. The film’s carefree atmosphere and nonstop funny lines keep you engaged for the most part. Laugh-out-loud funny moments abound in the first half, but the pace occasionally sags and the gags that repeat themselves (such “My name is Govinda, not Govind”) get tiresome. The second half, nevertheless, is more entertaining and snappier.
Vicky Kaushal shines in a never-before-seen role that is evocative of a classic masaledar 90s Bollywood hero. He is given the chance to act in a true masala movie here. Giving it his best, he kills every scene. Vicky gives this movie his all as Govinda Waghmare, whether it is in the comedic or romantic scenes.
But Bhumi Pednekar, who portrays a loud, obnoxious wife who enjoys hurting her husband, steals the show as the movie’s leading lady. With her performance in the movie, Kiara Advani excels and stands out from the crowd. One of the finest parts of the movie is the full cinematic sequence about her in jail. As a lawyer, Amey Wagh is hilarious; in fact, some of his antiques make us think of Ritesh Deshmukh from the Housefull universe. While Jeeva’s over-the-top musician persona has some humorous moments, Viraj Ghelani is just passably good. Sayaji Shinde, Dayanand Shetty, and Renuka Shahane are all squandered.
