Salt Bae Banned from US Open Cup Final After Backlash Over FIFA World Cup Antics.
Salt Bae cased commotion at the 2022 FIFA World Cup final on December 18, Sunday. Also, he holds the original FIFA trophy in his hands in disregard of FIFA rules. Because of this he banned from the US Open Cup final.
The incident makes football fans angry, with claiming that chef Salt Bae break rule. FIFA rules state that the World Cup trophy can only be held by the tournament winners and the likes of FIFA officials and heads of state.
On official twitter account tweeted: “Salt Bae is hereby banned from the 2023 @opencup Final.”
Many people who criticized Salt Bae for his antics at the FIFA World Cup final in Qatar praised the decision.
Who is Salt Bae?
The 39-year-old Salt Bae, Nusret Gokçe, is the owner of a network of opulent eateries throughout the globe, including Beverly Hills in Los Angeles and London’s exclusive Knightsbridge. Chef and restaurateur Nusret Gökçe gained notoriety online in 2017 after appearing in a video seasoning meat with one arm up and his wrist bent at an angle while sprinkling salt from his fingertips. Gokce, now known as Salt Bae, rose to fame thanks to the meme, and celebrities and sportsmen frequented his eateries, including David Beckham, who visited one of them in New York City in 2018.
After receiving a warning for his actions, the chef shared an old Messi video in what some are calling “an attempt to defend himself.”
FIFA WORLD CUP Controversy
He recently received criticism from both online and non-internet users for harassing Messi just after his triumph against France. He went over to the Argentine players just after the last game of the World Cup final. Since he surprised the players while they were looking forward to celebrating their success with their loved ones, he became the center of the issue. Gokce was seen chasing after athletes and badgering them to pose for pictures and films.
Gokçe was banned on Thursday from going to a sporting event in the US as a result of the incident, according to US Sun. He was prohibited from participating in The US Open Cup, a knockout competition including clubs from the MLS and other domestic competitions. “Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on December 18,” a spokesman told BBC. “The appropriate internal action will be taken,” he added.
