Anant and Radhika are officially engaged on Thursday, and the Ambanis and Merchants celebrate with family and friends.
Before the ceremonies started, Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant and Viren Merchant’s daughter Radhika went to a temple to ask Lord Krishna for his blessing. The ceremonies started with a Lord Ganesh puja, and then the traditional Lagan Patrika was read (wedding invitation).
Isha Ambani, Anant’s sister and the director of Reliance Retail, went to the Merchants’ house to invite them to the evening’s events. The engagement celebrations started with Aarti and the chanting of mantras to welcome the Merchants to the Ambani family’s home, “Antilia.” The house was decorated with balloons and flowers.
Anant Ambani‘s mother, Nita, who started the Reliance Foundation, led a surprise performance for the Merchant family.
During a traditional Gujarati engagement ceremony, Gol Dhana (jaggery and coriander seeds) are given out at the groom’s home. As part of Gujarati traditions, the families exchanged gifts and greetings before the wedding.
After the Gol Dhana and Chunari Vidhi ceremonies, the couple exchanged rings.
After their engagement ceremony, the happy couple and their families headed outside for some photos. Radhika wore a golden embellished lehenga combination with a matching embroidered blouse for the traditional rites Gol Dhana and Chunari Vidhi.
The bride-to-be looked beautiful in a gold lehenga with intricate embroidery, while the groom-to-be kept it classy in a navy-blue kurta-pajama with a matching embellished Nehru jacket.
Isha, who had twins with her businessman husband Anand Piramal last year, chose a chic white outfit with chunky Kundan jewelry for the white-themed engagement. Anand was matching his wife by wearing a white kurta-pajama and a Nehru jacket.
Mother-of-one Shloka Mehta Ambani drew attention in a white lehenga with a lot of embellishments, and Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Telecom, wore a teal blue kurta and Nehru jacket.
Anant and Radhika have been friends for a few years now. The Ambani family’s statement didn’t say when the wedding will happen, but it did say that it will happen in the coming months.
Radhika’s Arangetram ceremony
In June 2022, Ambanis held a big Arangetram ceremony for her at the Jio World Center. This made the news. Several famous people were at the ceremony, which marks a dancer’s rise to the stage after they have finished their training.
