Jay Shah, the secretary of the Indian cricket board, recently declared that the organization would begin a wage equity policy and pay international women cricketers the same match fee as males. Fans and sports enthusiasts from all around India cheered and applauded the announcement. Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, and others praised the BCCI for its new rule.

India’s men’s and women’s cricket teams will now receive an equal match fee, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday. Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, made the announcement on his official Twitter account.
“I’m pleased to announce BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing a pay equity policy for our contracted women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be the same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Indian Cricket,” he tweeted.
