She also sang the song “Born Again” for Black Panther 2 and dedicated it to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played Black Panther and died of cancer in August 2020.
Ludwig Göransson, the composer of Raise Me Up, told The Hollywood Reporter how Rihanna was persuaded to sing. He said they had begun learning about the plot and music they desired earlier. Ludwig said they sought musicians who best embodied the music.
Rihanna was mentioned since the Ryan Coogler film about parenthood contains strong female characters. He acknowledged that Rihanna was pregnant with A$AP Rocky. After seeing the movie’s rough cut and talking to Coogler, she agreed to perform the song.
